Tennessee native Kenny Chesney confirmed that his upbeat new track “Get Along” is all about spreading positivity. Despite all the negative energy in the world coming from war and politics, the country superstar encourages No Shoes Nation to push through the barriers. “Well, I think it has two faces: just to be able to get along in your life and walk away from negativity, you know? And I think there’s a lot of that in our lives. You’ve got some of the networks on here, and if you watch enough TV, it’s intersting to see what’s happening and especially with people of power because they’re acting like children. And no matter who you voted for — like we said, we didn’t want to get political — but this is not a political song. This is a very happy song.” Kenny Chesney explained during his time on SiriusXM’s The Highway.
“Some days, it’s like the world is just angry, screaming people,” he continues, “all harping on what’s wrong, how other people are awful. The more I move around talking to people and through people, the more I know people are good, working hard to get by and wanting the best for their family and friends. It’s simple, but we keep getting driven apart — and made unhappy.”
“When I heard this song, beyond how good the rhythm felt, I was amazed how simply they broke all this stuff down. Get along… find the common ground… know the basic stuff is where the joy, the love, the happiness is,” Kenny adds. No Shoes Nation is going to love this tune!

“Get Along” Lyrics
A man wearin’ a t-shirt says “Virginia is for lovers”
Had a Bible in his left hand and a bottle in the other
He says “All you’re really given is the sunshine and your name”
We both started laughin’ when the sky started to rain
Get along, on down the road
We’ve got a long long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain’t perfect but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, but a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can’t we all get along
Saw a model on a billboard, 1-800 get to know me
Wondered was she photoshopped, or were her eyes really that lonely?
Did she leave her hometown thinkin’ she’d end up in L.A.?
Did she break down in the desert and get stuck beside the highway?
Get along, on down the road
We’ve got a long long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain’t perfect but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can’t we all get along
We find out when you die the keys to heaven can’t be bought
We still don’t know what love is but we sure know what it’s not
Sometimes you got to
Get along, on down the road
We’ve got a long long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain’t perfect but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can’t we all get along
