Kelsea Ballerini is officially a rising star. She recently received the honor from Billboard at their prestigious Women in Music event.
The night was held in New York City to honor all women in music most notably Lana Del Ray, Lady Gaga, and Loretta Lynn to name a few.
Kelsea was introduced by longtime friend and mentor Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum. She took to the stage announcing to the crowd “Ooh, I’m nervous,” but presented herself with great poise and confidence.
She won the crowd over as she always does with her real personality and went on to tell everyone about how she got into the business. “Before I was an artist, I was a fan, and I stood in line to meet Hillary.” She said “I learned by watching strong, empowering, bold women how to become one. I’m a fan of everyone in this room.”
Ballereini ended her speech with a broken down performance of her monster breakout hit “Love Me Like You Mean It,” accompanied only by two acoustic guitars and a drum. The performance was beautiful and smoothe, and put a lot of smiles on the crowd’s faces.
