Country music singer-songwriter Keith Urban's band The Ranch didn't last long, but their music definitely had its own style. Check them out here!

Before country music superstar Keith Urban became a household name he was in a band called The Ranch. The trio, comprised of Urban (lead vocals, guitar, ganjo, keyboards) alongside Peter Clarke (drums, percussion) and Jerry Flowers (harmony vocals, bass guitar), formed in 1997. Although Keith Urban’s band life is often overlooked, they did put out a self-titled album via Capitol Records and released two singles, “Walkin’ the Country” and “Just Some Love.” The Ranch broke up in 1998.

“Walkin’ the Country” Lyrics

Runnin’ from the rate race
Just as fast as I can
Take off my tie so I can breathe
Me, I’m going where the fresh air’s blowin’
Take a little walk in the country with me

Walk in the country with me
Watch the sun sinkin’ down on the trees
It’s gonna do us some good
To get down in the woods
Take a little walk in the country with me

I’m so sick of all them TV shows
I need some dirt road under my feet
C’mon let’s point our toes where the red fern grows
Take a little walk in the country with me
Come on now

Walkin’ the country
Oh bless my soul
Just gimme that country road
Come on now

Take a little walk in the country with me
Come on now baby
Take a little walk in the country with me

The Ranch Covering Neil Diamond’s “Desiree” in 1997

“Desiree” Lyrics

It was the third of June
On that younger day
Well I became a man
At the hands of a girl
Almost twice my age
And she came to me
Just like a morning sun
And it wasn’t so much
Her words as such
As the way they were sung
It was the way they were sung
Desiree
Oh, Desiree
There I was found
By the sweet passion sound
Of you loving song
Time was right, the night was long
Remember, Desiree
Oh Desiree
Somehow I knew
I could only have you
‘Til the morning light
If only for that single night
Sweet Desiree, you made it right.
Then came the fourth of June
On that sleepless night
Well I tossed and I turned
While the thought of her burned
Up and down my mind
For she was there and gone
Without one regret
But she continues on
Like the words of a song
I could not forget
I could not forget
Desiree
Oh, Desiree
There I was found
By the sweet passion sound
Of your loving song
Time was right, the night was long
Remember, Desiree
Oh, Desiree
And though somehow I knew
I could only have you
‘Til the morning light
The night was long, the time was right
Do you remember, Desiree
