Country singers Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina rocked the radio with their duet “What Ifs” in 2018 so what better way to close out the year than to perform it live at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve!? Watch the official music video for What Ifs and see the complete lyrics below.

This popular track peaked No. 1 on multiple charts and was a big success with fans! Interestingly enough, the pair went to school together and are great friends! It was actually Lauren who gave Kane that friendly nudge to find his singing voice!
“We were in choir together in seventh grade,” Kane began in a past interview. “It was middle school, and you didn’t have to sing…it was just a class. I was always shy, and I just hummed. She actually heard me one day, and she was like, “Why don’t you sing louder?” She wouldn’t let me leave the class until I sang, and the teacher came over there. Lauren was so outgoing, and she really convinced me to sing. They ended up making us do some duet together.”
For the pair singing about being a couple and needing to act like one at certain performances can be a little tricky- especially since Kane is married and Lauren is engaged, but the pair says they are lucky to have such supportive significant others that support them!
The New Year’s Eve performance, however, did not include any remotely romantic interactions. The pair took the stage and had fun with their duet and from the looks of things, fans had fun right along with them!
What Ifs Lyrics
What if I find somebody else and I don’t need you
What if this goes south, what if I mess you up
You say what if I break your heart in two then what
Before you make your mind up I gotta ask
What if this is it, what if it’s meant to be
What if I ain’t one of them fools just playin’ some game
What if I just pulled you close, what if I leaned in
And the stars line up and it’s our last first kiss
What if one of these days baby I’d go and change your name
What if I loved all these what ifs away
We could worry about them what ifs ’til the world stops turnin’
Or I could kiss you (you should kiss me), what if you liked it (bet I’d like it)
Well we ain’t never gonna know unless we try it
What if this is it, what if it’s meant to be
What if I ain’t one of them fools just playin’ some game
What if I just pulled you close, what if I leaned in
And the stars line up and it’s our last first kiss
What if one of these days baby I’d go and change your name
What if I loved all these what ifs away
What if I find somebody else and I don’t need you
What if this is it, what if it’s meant to be
What if I ain’t one of them fools just playin’ some game
What if I just pulled you close, what if I leaned in
And the stars line up and it’s our last first kiss
What if one of these days, baby, I’d go and change your name
What if I loved all these what ifs away
