Country singer Kane Brown recently released a song that addresses many social concerns that he believes need to be talked about. More here!
Music has the power to impact many and that is exactly what country music hit-maker Kane Brown is doing! With various tragedies that have happened related to gun violence, Kane is getting the conversation started with his recent song, “American Bad Dream.”
Kane wrote this track along with Sam Ellis, Chase McGill, and Josh Hoge. The team played on the notion of ‘The American Dream’ which is the idea of building success and rising economically from nothing. “American Bad Dream” shifts the focal point to a really young Americans face that centers around the fear of mass shootings.
In this song, hot topic issues are brought up including school shootings and police brutality. These are both common topics in the news and that today’s politicians discuss. Kane wanted to make it very clear, however, that he is not anti-police. His very own grandmother was a detective back in the day!
“You also have bad cops that were bullied in school or whatever and think that they have power and that makes other cops look bad,” Kane shared with Taste of Country. “I just feel like everybody should stop hiding behind the lies or just seeing everything on social media and just realize the situation.”
While he is aware that this song might spark controversies among people, however, Kane believes that both the message of the song and getting conversations sparked is important.
“After we finished the song, I felt that we wrote it well enough that you could see that I wasn’t trying to say anything bad … just cause awareness. No matter what artist you are, if you mention anything of this it’s assumed people are going to give you hell for it,” Kane explained.
