Country music phenomenon Kane Brown explains why he won't revisit his ACM Awards performance with close friend Lauren Alaina...

During April’s 2018 ACM Awards, country music star Kane Brown and songstress Lauren Alaina performed their hit collaboration “What Ifs” together live. Although this was a big moment in Kane’s career, he hasn’t gone back to watch footage of the performance. Why? Well, he feels the whole thing was just plain awkward since he and longtime friend Lauren were practically nose-to-nose at the close of their time on stage.

The sexy choreography was planned out by the show’s producers, who really wanted the pair to sell the love song to the audience.

“That was the first thing they told us,” Kane recently shared with Taste of Country about the steamy performance. “They were just like, ‘This is how you end.’ We were like, ‘What?!'”

“It was super awkward,” the star added. “Lauren was like, ‘Might was well go ahead and grab his butt, too!'”

Here’s a video of the ACM performance below. Not the best quality, but it gets the point across in case you missed the broadcast.

Yeah, we can see what Kane is talking about! Despite how close the two got physically, Kane and Lauren have a brother-sister relationship and are in no way romantically involved. Kane got engaged to Katelyn Jae in April 2017 and Lauren has been dating boyfriend Alex Hopkins for years.

While romance is not in the cards between these two, their friendship is rock solid and nothing but supportive.

“This week was already the best week ever, but it just keeps getting more and more pheNOMenal! How can it be that I won New Female Vocalist Of The Year for the ACM’s, had a nomination with this guy for Vocal Event at the ACM’s, sang with him on the freaking @acmawards, and WE FOUND OUT THIS MORNING WE HAVE A BILLBOARD NOMINATION TOGETHER?! We’ve come a long way from middle school Kane. Proud to be your friend. #whatif,” Lauren gushed via Instagram after the awards ceremony.

What an awesome friendship to witness! It’s wild to think that these two first crossed paths in choir class while attending Lakeview Middle School in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Now, they have both made it to the big leagues and have red hot country music careers!

Be sure to share this update with other Kane Brown fans!
