Country music star Justin Moore made a large donation to Parkland's MSD Fund, honoring the heroes, victims, and survivors of gun violence in schools.

On Friday, country music star Justin Moore headlined the first-ever #MSDCOUNTRYSTRONG concert benefiting Parkland, Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s MSD Fund, a charity honoring the heroes, victims, and survivors of gun violence in schools.

Before starting his set, Moore donated $30,000 to the MSD Fund on behalf of his family and crew.

“I’m of the belief that when God allows you to have a platform like I have, you’re supposed to use it for good,” Moore shared with the crowd. “I’m a father of four. I send each and every one of them to school every day and drop them off. Usually it’s late,” he kidded, “but I drop them off each and every day. My first prayer is that they’ll come home safe that afternoon. I can’t even fathom what these families up here — and maybe some of you guys — have had to deal with and the difficulty this has caused. So sorry for that. I’m not going to pretend to know what that feels like. Just know that from me and my camp that we’ll be praying for your continued healing, and we hope and pray that one day, at some point, you’ll see your loved ones again.”

The country artist also took a moment to thank service members, security guards, nurses, policemen, teachers, and more for all they do for others.

“I’ve got to be honest,” Moore shared before playing “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away.” “I’ve done a lot of charity events over the years benefiting so many different things. I’ll tell you what. This one has really touched me…having the opportunity here tonight to meet wives and dads and moms, brothers, sisters and sons and daughters. It really is touching, especially me being a father. It effects me.”

“If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” Lyrics

Every day I drive to work across Flint River bridge
A hundred yards from the spot where me and grandpa fished
There’s a piece of his old fruit stand on the side of Sawmill Road
He’d be there peelin’ peaches if it was twenty years ago
What I wouldn’t give
To ride around in that old truck with him
If heaven wasn’t so far away
I’d pack up the kids and go for the day
Introduce them to their grandpa
Watch ’em laugh at the way he talked
Find my long lost cousin John
The one we left back in Vietnam
Show him a picture of his daughter now
She’s a doctor and he’d be proud
Tell ’em we’d be back in a couple of days
In the rear view mirror we’d all watch him wave
And losing them wouldn’t be so hard to take
If heaven wasn’t so far away
I’d hug all three of those girls we lost
From the class of ninety nine
And I’d find my bird dog Bo and take him huntin’ one more time
I’d ask Hank why he took those pills back in fifty three
And Janis to sing the second verse of “Me and Bobby McGee”
Sit on a cloud and visit for a while
It’d do me good just to see them smile
If heaven wasn’t so far away
I’d pack up the kids and go for the day
Introduce them to their grandpa
Watch ’em laugh at the way he talked
I’d find my long lost cousin John
The one we left back in Vietnam
Show him a picture of his daughter now
She’s a doctor and he’d be proud
Tell him we’d be back in a couple of days
In the rear view mirror we’d all watch him wave
Yeah losing them wouldn’t be so hard to take
If heaven wasn’t so far
If heaven wasn’t so far
If heaven wasn’t so far away
So far away
So far away
