Joye Feek experienced a roller coaster of emotions during the holiday season.

Singer-songwriter Rory Feek continues to faithfully keep fans and loved ones in the loop when it comes to wife Joey Feek‘s status. “The holidays have been a roller-coaster for my bride. She’s had some good days, some bad days – some wonderful moments, and some deep pain that the morphine just couldn’t seem to touch. How could it… it wasn’t that kind of pain,” Rory shares.

In his touching blog post titled “Seeing the Light,” Rory details the real emotional toll of Joey’s terminal cancer diagnosis, “They say that at Christmas time emotions run high, and you feel more than you do the rest of the year. I think that’s probably true. Though she managed a smile most of the time, Joey’s heart was heavy and she was feeling some things she hadn’t before… A sadness. A fear of the unknown. And even some anger – not at God, just at her situation I suppose. It’s not easy for her to be as excited about what the new year holds in store as it was last year.”

Luckily, Joey’s spirits were brightened by the continued companionship and efforts of Bill and Gloria Gaither— legendary artists in the gospel music world. The famous Indiana-based couple have been providing inspiration to the Feeks in their time of need— even creating a magical winter bonfire to bring a smile to Joey’s face.

God bless.

UPDATE:

In December, Joey + Rory got the thrilling news that they had been nominated for a Grammy in the ‘Best Country Duo / Group Performance’ category for their rendition of “If I Needed You.” The talented husband and wife duo are up against the Brothers Osborne; Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay; Little Big Town; and Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe in the category.

Unable to attend the ceremony, Rory Feek revealed that daughters Heidi and Hopie, along with manager Aaron, traveled to Los Angeles to represent the musicians at the GRAMMYs. Sadly, the duo did not receive the honor— Little Big Town won for their performance of “Girl Crush.” Instead of being surrounded by glitz and glamour, Joey and Rory watched the awards program with their daughter Indiana and Joey’s close family members from the comfort of her room. We hope the couple enjoyed their night despite the results!
