Nashville’s Jenny Leigh offers up a refreshing twist on country music with her new single “Let It Just Happen.” Give it a listen here!

Fall is upon us. Which means it’s time for cozy fires, pumpkin spice lattes and… love. For most, when falling in love, it’s difficult to not rush it. Thankfully, Nashville’s country artist, Jenny Leigh, reminds us to “let it just happen.” With melodic touches of Motown, Southern Rock, and Blues paired with soulful lyrics, it’s the perfect tune for that relaxing, solo night at home that you’ve desperately needed.

Jenny’s new single, co-written with The Voice Season 9 third place contestant Barrett Baber and The Voice Season 10 runner-up Adam Wakefield, encourages us to really slow down, pace ourselves and get to know one another – advice we could all use at some point. “’Let it Just Happen’ is a reminder that we don’t have to have life figured out all the time. It can be messy, labels can be too confining and sometimes it can be relieving to enjoy the process instead of trying to understand it,” says Jenny.

“Let It Just Happen” offers a refreshing new twist on country music, one we haven’t really heard before. Upon first listen, we’re taken back in time to the greats like Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Needless to say, Jenny does a fantastic job of marrying various genres to create a unique sound that is soulful, yet still country. “I wanted this song to have a timeless feel and capture some of the nostalgia of my musical upbringing. I love horns and grew accustomed to performing with them in Baltimore. So, I wanted to bring in that Motown vibe to ‘Let It Just Happen,’ and also highlight Southern Rock influence with the slide guitar.”

Lucky for us, it won’t be long until we hear more. According to Jenny, she’s currently working on a follow-up single as well as hitting the road this fall. To hear “Let It Just Happen,” click play below.

“Let It Just Happen” Lyrics
Written by Jenny Leigh, Adam Wakefield, & Barrett Baber

Verse 1:
Might be a couple of days
Until you hear from me
If I don’t pick up the phone
It ain’t no emergency

And it don’t mean
You’re not on my mind
I just need some time to be my time sometimes
So tonight

Chorus:
We could get in a hurry tryin’ to worry ’bout what we don’t even understand
What’s the point in rushing it when it ain’t even in our hands
I can’t make the flowers grow if the rain wants to turn to snow
This could be something worth lasting
If we let it just happen

Verse 2:
So lets sit back
And go along for the ride
It’ll take us where we wanna go
If we just follow the sings

We don’t have to stop
We might slow it down
Just to take it all in, again and again
(Honey) while we figure this out

Chorus:
We could get in a hurry tryin’ to worry ’bout what we don’t even understand
What’s the point in rushing it when it ain’t even in our hands
I can’t make the flowers grow if the rain wants to turn to snow
This could be something worth lasting
If we let it just happen

(Breakdown Chorus)

Outro:
So let’s sit back and go along for the ride
It’ll take us where we wanna go
if we just follow the signs
