Country music singer-songwriter Jason Aldean met a very special person on Friday--- a Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting survivor. More here.

On Friday, country music entertainer Jason Aldean made a special visit to Route 91 Harvest Festival survivor Jovanna Calzadillas at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Aldean and other country music artists were in the area for the Country Thunder Music Festival, which ran April 5th through 8th.

As reported by local news outlet KVOA, Jovanna miraculously survived being shot in the head during the mass shooting which left 58 concertgoers dead and hundreds injured.  “Country music artist Jason Aldean made a very special trip to Barrow today to visit patient Jovanna Calzadillas and her family. Jovanna has made a remarkable recovery at Barrow after being shot in the head at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival in October where Aldean was the headliner. Thank you Jason Aldean for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit one of your #1 fans!” the Institute shared via Facebook.

Not only did Jason stop by for a meet and greet, he also gave Jovanna and her husband, Frank, an autographed acoustic guitar.

What a neat moment for everyone involved. As announced previously, the Georgia native is set to perform during Sunday’s 2018 ACM Awards in Las Vegas. This will mark the first time the star has performed in the city since the Route 91 tragedy unfolded on October 1st.

Although the superstar has been fairly mum on the topic of gun control, he does feel that purchasing firearms is too easy.

“It’s too easy to get guns, first and foremost,” Aldean recently shared with the Associated Press. “When you can walk in somewhere and you can get one in five minutes, do a background check that takes five minutes, like how in-depth is that background check?”

Aldean is an avid hunter and doesn’t think people should be banned from owning guns, but he lamented that politicians have not been able to successfully navigate reforms.

“Nobody is looking at what the actual issue is and really how to come to an agreement and make a smart decision,” he expressed. “It’s a no-win situation. I think no matter what you say, whether you’re for gun control or not, I mean, you’re setting yourself up to be crucified in the public eye or in the media.”
