Country music superstar Jason Aldean and wife Brittany have been nothing but open about their fertility struggles and the impact of Brittany’s endometriosis. After undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), the couple welcomed their first child together, son Memphis, on December 1st. The couple knew they wanted to have another child sooner than later and went through the process again. On July 10th, the couple announced they are expecting their second child!
“It was definitely something we had planned,” Jason Aldean recently disclosed to PEOPLE. “After having our son, we knew we wanted to have two kids. I have my two older daughters already, so after Memphis was born we knew we wanted to have another one pretty quick — to go ahead and knock it out and have one that was a little closer in age to him.”
As fans know, Jason has two daughters, 10-year-old Kendyl and 15-year-old Keeley, from his previous marriage to high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery.
“I would much rather knock it out now while we’re used to having one in diapers and formula and all of that,” the country star explained. “I think it’s tougher when you get out of that and wait a couple years and then have to go redo it all. We just wanted them to be close in age, and we figured we’re already in that mindset now, so why not?”
While Jason and Brittany know the gender of their new bundle of joy, they are keeping that piece of information to themselves for now. As can be expected, the pair are thinking over possible names for their little one but haven’t settled on anything yet.
Adding another child to the brood isn’t the only big change on the way for the family— they are also building their dream home in Tennessee.
