Signing with a brand new label, a new personal outlook on life, and creating incredible new music videos are just a few of the epic changes in Jake Owen’s life. However, changes of this magnitude do not scare the 36-year-old.

“Musically, everything is in line with kind of where I am personally and also having the label change — there’s been a lot of changes that have not been easy changes, but sometimes, I think a lot of the time, change is great,” Jake Owen told CMT.

“[Change] sparked a lot of passion on all fronts, personally for myself, and then on the label side of things, from the fans who are excited about the change, and I think they’re seeing it,” Owen added.

“To still be making waves where people are caring and showing up to see what’s next is a major, major milestone every year, that you get to call yourself a singer or an artist, whatever it is we’re doing out here. I’m so thankful to be doing it, I’m thankful for all the people, not just fans, but everyone who has supported me through the years. For everyone who has said, ‘We’re pulling for you.’ I’m thankful for that, but I’m also cognizant of that because I sense it. I sense that there are people out there pulling for me, and because they’re pulling for me, that makes me want to do that much more onstage for them. We’re all in this together.”

One of the most evident ways fans can see Jake embracing change is through his brand new “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” music video. “I think those who are seeing the video for the first time are going to go, ‘Whoa, this isn’t just normal,'” Owen continued.

One thing is certain, Owen’s creative side is on full display in his “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” music video! The unique video features a conversation between TV stars Jake Etheridge and MacKenzie Porter from Netflix’s Travelers. Throughout the video, the camera repeatedly switches from the song to the real-lifes couple’s discussion.

“I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” Lyrics

It was yesterday
It was years ago
We were singing every word on the radio
Kinda like them songs that saved our souls
Somehow, someway
We was falling fast
We was jumping in
Blue jean halo hanging off the limb
Two American kids just like them
Every time they played
And it blew us away

Do you turn it up
Do you sing along
Every time you hear that song
Like we did then
Like we did when
Do you close your eyes
Does it make you laugh
Do the memories take you back
Six pack and a Chevy Cheyenne
Way back
When I was Jack and you were Diane

Yeah we remember growing up and growing old
Breaking up or letting ago
Girls just like Rock n Roll
Where has it gone
But I hope like hell every now and again
I blow across your mind like that summer wind
And you’re holding on to sixteen as long as you can
Every time that it comes on

Do you turn it up
Do you sing along
Every time you hear that song
Like we did then
Like we did when
Do you close your eyes
Does it make you laugh
Do the memories take you back
Six pack and a Chevy Cheyenne
Way back
When I was Jack and you were Diane

Do you turn in tup
Do you sing along
Every time you hear that song
Does it still groove you
Baby hallelujah

Do you close your eyes
Does it make you laugh
Do the memories take you back
Six packs and a Chevy Cheyenne
Way back
When I was Jack and you were Diane

Yeah way back
Way on back
When I was Jack and you were Diane
Yeah do you close your eyes
Does it make you laugh
When I was Jack and you were Diane
Yeah let the memories take you back
Take you back
Take you back
