Jake Owen and Daughter Pearl’s Sweetest Moments in Pictures

Country music star Jake Owen and Lacey Buchanan shocked fans when they parted ways in August 2015 after three years of marriage. The two Florida natives first met during the filming of Owen’s “Eight Second Ride” music video, which debuted August 2009, but didn’t get romantically involved until 2011. Fans can also spot Lacey in the summery music video for “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” The attractive couple married on May 7, 2012, in Vero Beach, Florida and soon welcomed daughter Olive Pearl Owen on November 22, 2012.

“My best friend’s name was Pearl — [she] passed away — and we wanted to call [our daughter] Pearl. We were going to name her Pearl Olive Owen,” he explains with a laugh. “But then her initials would have been ‘POO’ so we went ahead and switched that around,” Owen explained to PEOPLE after her arrival.

Though the couple’s whirlwind love story ended in divorce, Jake and Lacey are doing their best to co-parent their young daughter, Pearl, and give her the best upbringing possible.

“It’s hard for people to understand and judge someone else’s life. At the end of the day, I think we made the right decision,” Owen summed up his own relationship during a SiriusXM’s The Highway interview. “Our daughter is beautiful and happy and the two of us are being the best parents we can be.”

While Lacey keeps her personal life extremely private, Jake is quick to share snapshots and video clips of the quality time he spends with Pearl. It’s hard to believe that she will turn 5-years-old later this year.

“I’ve accomplished some pretty amazing things in my life and the good Lord has blessed me with many blessings… nothing will ever compare to this child. Nothing will ever make me feel more fulfilled. My greatest accomplishment. Pearl,” Jake shared via his Instagram account.
