Despite typically performing on stage as Lady Antebellum’s drummer, Chris Tyrrell, will not be playing with the band on tour this summer. As you might know, Tyrrell is married to Hillary Scott, another member of the remarkable country band. The lovely couple welcomed home identical twins, Betsy Mack and Emory JoAnn, back in January. On top of the beautiful babies, the couple also have a four-year-old daughter named Eisele Kaye. Together, the couple decided that Chris would be the one to take on the role of the children’s primary caregiver as Hillary gears up to hit the road.
“We feel at complete peace with the decision,” Hillary Scott told People. “We’re both equipping each other to do exactly what we’re supposed to be doing right now,” she continued. ” We just came to that agreement together. It was one of the easiest decisions we’ve ever made and the peace that we’ve felt since we made it has just been continual proof of it being the right call.”
“I’ve been a bandmate, employee, husband and dad, so I’m okay removing a hat.” Chris jokingly added, “Besides, when you looked at whether the band could do without me or her, there wasn’t much question!”
In late 2015, the talented pair suffered devastating miscarriage. After a grieving and healing period, Chris and Hillary decided they would try again.
“I remember telling my band mates towards the end of that summer of ’16 — we were talking about making the record Heart Break,” Scott said. “And I just said, ‘I’m really committed to making and touring this album, but then we’re going to start trying again.'”
“We felt at peace with that timing of, ‘Make the record, tour the record, and then we want to be expanding our family,'” Scott noted. “Knowing all the while that when the tour started we would start trying, just because the slower times in what we do are fall and winter. So we started trying then, and it really — by the grace of God — was not a long process, I mean, it happened quick.”
We couldn’t be happier for this country family and the next chapter in their lives!
