LONG LIVE THE KING OF COUNTRY MUSIC!

George Strait made his entry into the world on this day in Poteet, Texas! Spanning more than three decades of recording country music, King George has garnered a whopping SIXTY No. 1 hits and has more No. 1 tracks than any other artist in ANY genre. Strait is also the first artist in the history of Billboard magazine to have at least one single enter the Top 10 of a Billboard chart for 30 consecutive years, starting in 1981 with his single “Unwound.” In total, the country music icon has sold more than 68 million albums in the United States alone— chances are you have at least one of them.

George and his lovely wife of fourty-four years, Norma, currently live in northwest San Antonio within a community called “The Dominion.” They also spend quality time on their ranch near Cotulla, located in between San Antonio and Laredo. We certainly hope the King is holding ‘court’ with his wonderful family and is enjoying the heck out of his birthday celebrations!

Let’s take a look back at some of our favorite George Strait moments and have a little celebration ourselves!

Fun fact— back in 2013, former Texas Governor Rick Perry declared today to be “George Strait Day” in the Lone Star State. That’s pretty boss. Share this with any loyal King George fans an keep the party going!
