“Are You Ready for the Country” is a song that was written and sang by Neil Young in 1972 and later made famous by Waylon Jennings in 1976. Now the iconic country music anthem is being revived by Hank Williams Jr. and Eric Church, and even has a music video for the song!
“You have no idea how excited I am about this single and my new album,” Williams Jr. says in a press release. “This is my 37th album, and the excitement never goes away. This is definitely my best album to date.”
It’s About Time will be Williams’ next album, the first one in 3 years, and is set for release on Jan. 15 of next year. The highly-anticipated album features additional guest appearances from Brad Paisley, Brantley Gilbert and Justin Moore.
In a time of roots country revival with artists such as Chris Stapleton and Cam, this album couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We have made an album that is pure magic,” Williams says.
“The songs — some I wrote and others I got from great songwriters — are typical Hank Jr. songs and I think will connect with anyone who hears them.”
The soon-to-be released album with be Williams’ first with record label Nash Icon.
“It’s been a very uplifting experience being involved with Scott Borchetta and everyone at Nash Icon (Big Machine Label Group),” Williams said.
“Everyone here has been so supportive and is so excited.”
Williams is very grateful to be with Nash Icon. He cites his previous label as being the reason it has been so long since an album release.
“I’m dead serious. The new record is loaded. I was kind of stuck like flypaper to a bad situation that four other artists couldn’t stand,” Williams said to Billboard, referring to his previous recording deal with Curb.
“I’m what you call a motivated icon, so people better check it out.”
Eric Church and Williams performed the current version of “Are You Ready for the Country” at the CMA Music Awards and the audience LOVED it!
