Country music stars Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi team up for a Bonnie and Clyde-esque romp in the “Getting Over Him” music video! In the video, directed by sister-brother duo Alexa and Stephen Kinigopoulos, Lauren and Jon play up the roles of vibrant vixen meets king of bad decisions as the sordid characters take on an ill-fated crime and a fleeting romance. Watch it below!
Alaina co-wrote the song with Emily Weisband and Paul DiGiovanni. As soon as it was finished, she knew immediately who she wanted as a duet partner.
“’Getting Over Him’ is a song that I recorded with Jon Pardi who is one of my dear friends,” shared Lauren. “I absolutely love him and his personality, and I knew when I wrote this song with Emily Weisband and Paul DiGiovanni that he we would be the perfect guy for it. It’s about going out and having a good time, and Jon Pardi is the definition of going out and having a good time.”
Heard from a friend of a friend that you had a reputation
And it sounded like my kind of lonely medication
I was the girl he’d cheat on, looking for a little bit of neon
So I got drunk, hit you up and you took the invitation
We were dive bar kissing
Heartbreak fixing
No strings Saturday night
Hot like a match it burned out fast
Forever wasn’t in our eyes
You knew it and I knew it
And it was a damn good time
My last call first call no falling
Just my getting over him guy
I was getting over him
I heard from a friend of a friend that you had a bad month girl
You said that you needed someone who liked to have a little fun girl
Turns out that’s my specialty, cooked you up a good recipe
Denim on denim, forget him, yeah we lit it up girl
We were dive bar kissing
Heartbreak fixing
No strings Saturday night
Hot like a match it burned out fast
Forever wasn’t in our eyes
You knew it and I knew it
And it was a damn good time
My last call first call no falling
Just your getting over him guy
Yeah you were getting over him
I was getting over him
Girl, I can be your go to hold you savior
Let me know if I can ever return the favor
We were dive bar kissing
Heartbreak fixing
No strings Saturday night
Hot like a match it burned out fast
Forever wasn’t in our eyes
You knew it and I knew it
And it was a damn good time
My last call first call no falling
Just my getting over him guy
