Anderson East was born “Michael Cameron Anderson” on July 17th, 1988 and raised in Athens, Alabama. His grandfather was a Baptist preacher and his father and mother were involved in the music at the church. At a young age, East showed an interested in music and later decided to attend college in Tennessee to get his degree in music engineering.
It was soon obvious that East was not meant to be stuck in the studio chair. He began performing with Holly Williams, Hank Williams Jr.’s daughter, both opening for her and playing in her band.
It wouldn’t be till 2015 when East would get his “big break” in music. He released his first major label record titled Delilah, which was produced by the famed Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton) and features a song recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Delilah is named for the Bible story of Samson and Delilah, about being infatuated with a woman.
“That’s kind of the thread through the record: the woman that saved the crumbled man,”East said in an interview when the album was released.
2015 is also the year that East and country music queen Miranda Lambert started dating. The couple met when Lambert attended one of his concerts and were introduced by a friend. Lambert was just starting to come out of the dark days of divorce from her ex-husband Blake Shelton. Shelton’s relationship with The Voice co-star Gwen Stefani was very public, which is probably why Lambert and East kept theirs under wraps for a while.
Now it is common knowledge that Anderson East is Miranda Lambert’s man, and from his recent birthday post on Instagram, it seems he couldn’t be happier about that!
“Thanks to everyone for all the love on my birthday. I can’t believe that I get the privilege to live the life that I get to live. I have the love of an amazing & kind woman, I get to play music that I love & trust & I get to do it with the greatest band & crew ever & I have the love & support of my family. I love being alive – I love having beautiful memories & I am beyond excited about what the future may hold. Thank you all for everything. I love everything and every one” said East.
