Long before they were an item, Garth Brooks encountered fellow Country star Trisha Yearwood in the early days of their country music careers.
“I just remember she was wearing a pair of knock-off Keds with little ankle socks and jeans that were a little bit too high on her ankle,” he shared with The Insider. “She smelled so fantastic.”

Years after their first meeting and finalizing his divorce from estranged wife Sandy Mahl, Brooks popped the question to Yearwood on May 25, 2005 in front of 7,000 fans in Bakersfield, California. The power couple’s intimate wedding at their home in Owasso, Oklahoma followed later that year on December 10th.
After a few decades of friendship and eleven years of marriage, their love continues to get stronger.
“When I think about how much I thought I loved her, pshht, not compared to today,” he said while getting misty-eyed, “that’s the bomb right there.”
