Elton John's tribute album is set for release on April 6th and will feature many of country music's hottest stars! More here.

Gear up for the release of a two-disc Elton John tribute album on April 6th! Some of country music’s biggest stars will take part in the 26-track project including Willie Nelson, Maren Morris, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton, and more. The project also honors songwriter Bernie Taupin.

“I wrote out a wish list of people that I would love and asked them,” John said in a statement, according to Wide Open Country. “To my surprise, most of them said yes, and we have quite an astonishing eclectic crew.”

Chris Stapleton’s sultry voice takes the lead on “I Want Love,” and Dierks Bentley covers the gloomy “Sad Songs (Say So Much).” Miranda Lambert does her own rendition of “My Father’s Gun.” After a few amazing live performances from Little Big Town, the album will also have their cover of “Rocket Man.”

The first volume of the tribute record is called Restoration, which features covers by country music artists. On the second volume, Revamp, rock, pop, and R&B singers will join forces singing covers of Elton John’s songs. Some of these artists include The Killers, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith and Miley Cyrus, who actually appears on both volumes. One of John’s most infamous songs, “Candle in the Wind,” is covered by the swooning Ed Sheeran. Elton John even performs a trio on this tribute project alongside P!nk and Logic for “Bennie and the Jets.”

“It’s always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it,” John said in a statement, according to Rolling Stone. “As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp and Restoration choose to add their own unique twist in the process. It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences.”

Elton John’s long and successful career is winding down, though. He recently announced plans for retirement from touring, but he’s going to tour one last time and it is going to be massive! In September of this year, John plans to start his final tour in North America.
