Watch Eddie Montgomery Pay Tribute to Troy Gentry [Video]

Montgomery Gentry artist Eddie Montgomery's tribute to the late Troy Gentry will make you emotional. Check out the video message here.

Montgomery Gentry star Eddie Montgomery honored the memory of Troy Gentry on the first anniversary of his tragic death by recording a heartfelt video message and sharing it with the duo’s loyal fans. The star was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in New Jersey on September 8, 2017.

In the video clip, Eddie reflects on the fun times he and Troy shared over the years.

“I’ll tell you what, there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t miss my brother in crime, T-Roy,” Eddie shares. “After looking to your left all these years, man … all the stuff with him and that big wooden spoon, stirring stuff up all the time, and pulling tricks and jokes. All the stuff that we’ve been through that we can’t put on camera, that everybody can’t see. That’s the good stories. He’d probably come kick my ass if I told some of them, so I better not! And plus, Angie [Troy’s widow] would probably kick my ass, too.”

“Every time I think about you, brother, I’m smiling and I’m laughing, and I go back to the honky-tonk days, man…” the star adds. “Gosh, man, I miss you, brother. I miss you a bunch.”

In honor of Troy’s legacy, listen to the track “Better Me” and watch the lyric video.

“Better Me” Lyrics

I’m getting older
Founding myself and God getting a little bit closer
It’s over
I’m a little less reckless, little less wild card
Breaking hearts kinda senseless
Yeah, I’m coming around

I might cuss and fight, tell a few lies
Break a few rules, making promises I can’t keep
But I’ve turned the page on wilder days
I’m running all this down hoping you’ll see
I ain’t saying I’m perfect, but I’m working on a better me

I say I’m sorry
Sometimes it’s the hardest part to tell somebody
But baby I’m sorry
Yeah I’ve been praying
Coming from me that might sound a little bit crazy
But that’s how I’m changing
I might cuss and fight, tell a few lies
Break a few rules, making promises I can’t keep
But I’ve turned the page on wilder days
I’m running all this down hoping you’ll see
I ain’t saying I’m perfect, but I’m working on a better me yeah

Didn’t wanna call you up
Didn’t wanna just stop
Wanted to take my time and make sure I got every word right

Yeah, I still cuss and fight
Tell you lies
Break a few rules, making promises I can’t keep
But I’ve turned the page on wilder days
I’m running all this down hoping you’ll see
I aint saying I’m perfect, but I’m working on a better me
I ain’t saying I’m perfect, but I’m working on a better me
On a better me
Better me
