Drake White's health has been a cause of concern since he nearly collapsed while performing over the summer. More on the star's current condition here.
Country music singer-songwriter Drake White’s health issues were made public over the summer after he nearly collapsed during a show. The 36-year-old was diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) within his brain earlier this year. White has a large tangle of arteries and veins located in the back right side of his brain, which has led to a disruption of normal blood flow.
“It was basically stealing blood from my brain,” White shared with PEOPLE in July about his condition. “The neurologist told me that I should be thankful it was caught in time, because it could have caused a stroke.”
Drake and his medical team are working hard to eliminate the mass and he has undergone a series of embolization procedures to cut off blood flow to vessels causing issues. Likely, the artist has had this condition since birth but it became a noticeable issue over the last year.
While appearing on The Doctors (aired Dec. 10), White shared that he is currently walking with a cane and working to regain some movement that he lost on the left side of his body after undergoing treatments.
The artist and his wife, Alex, are holding strong and hope his health is fully restored. Right now, he’s staying positive and is using music to help him heal.
“I think about me back on stage, those thoughts are what is healing me,” White explained. “It kind of is a healing agent of its own. I just continued to push through and make sure I was writing as I was going through this process. It made me feel good and made me feel like my purpose was still there.”
Everybody say we wouldn’t make it baby
Love don’t live around here much lately
Times are hard and hearts break like the bank,
Ah yes they do
Lots of reasons just to give it on up
Leave your soul on the shelf, collectin’ dust
Livin’ a world of broken promises and empty tanks
Oh but look at us
Look at us with a picket fence
Don’t got a lot of money but we’re making a dent
Old Ford truck with a dog in the back
Now ain’t we livin’ the dream
Big blue sky, green, green grass
Ain’t doin’ half bad for a half full glass
Kiss me baby yeah just like that now
Ain’t we livin’ a dream
Put on a little old Keith medley
Back porch dancin’ singing with me
I’m no stranger to the rain, oh no he ain’t
Pour a little bit of homemade wine
Make some love, take our sweet time
Why the hell do we complain
Look at us with a picket fence
Don’t got a lot of money but we’re making a dent
Old Ford truck with a dog in the back
Now ain’t we livin’ the dream
Big blue sky, green, green grass
Ain’t doin’ half bad for a half full glass
Kiss me baby yeah just like that now
Ain’t we livin’ a dream, oh yeah, oh baby
Ain’t we livin’ a dream
Look at us we got a life out here
Outlaws, in-laws, coolers of beer
A spot on the wall to hang last year’s deer
Now ain’t we livin’ a dream
Red white and blue flag hangin’
Kids in the back, just a tire swangin’
Fireworks are boom and bangin’
Now ain’t we livin’ a dream
Look at us with a picket fence
Don’t got a lot of money but we’re making a dent
Old Ford truck with a dog in the back
Now ain’t we livin’ the dream
Big blue sky, green, green grass
Ain’t doin’ bad for a half full glass
Kiss me baby yeah just like that now
Ain’t we livin’ a dream
Oh oh, yeah
They said we’d never make it baby
Love don’t live around here much lately
What do you think about that?
