Country music icon Dolly Parton first graced the famous Grand Ole Opry stage when she was just 10-years-old and became an official member back in the ’60s. So it only makes sense that the Opry would create an incredible tribute for one of their most beloved superstars.
In late March, a huge mural depicting Parton was unveiled on Opry Plaza. Watch this captivating time-lapse video of the mural being created below!
Scott Guion, the Nashville artist known for painting a variety of musical legends in a large-scale fashion, is also the creator of the new iconic Dolly mural.
“I finished another panel out at The Grand Ole Opry! 8’x8’ paint on plywood. Like everyone on the planet, I have loved Dolly my whole life,” Guion shared via his personal Instagram account.
Guion has been commissioned to create a series of these 8’x 8′ portraits for the Grand Ole Opry. Murals of Little Jimmy Dickens and Billy Ray Cyrus have also been unveiled. Before he began on this special project, he created a few other murals in Nashville featuring country artists such as Tammy Wynette and Marty Stuart. We will have to wait and see which other country music favorites will be painted by Guion next.
In celebration of this honor, let’s enjoy listening to Dolly’s “I Will Always Love You”!
“I Will Always Love You” Lyrics
If I should stay
I would only be in your way
So I’ll go, but I know
I’ll think of you each step of the way
And I will always love you
I will always love you
Bitter-sweet memories
That’s all I am taking with me
Good-bye, please don’t cry
We both know that I’m not
What you need
I will always love you
I will always love you
I hope life, treats you kind
And I hope that you have all
That you ever dreamed of
And I wish you joy
And happiness
But above all of this
I wish you love
And I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
