Dierks Bentley had known his future wife for years, but it took a George Strait concert to get him together with hometown flame, Cassidy Black. More here!
While reflecting on what country music icon George Strait means to him, Dierks Bentley dropped an interesting tidbit about how opening for the seasoned entertainer back in February 2005 led him to reconnect with childhood friend Cassidy Black. The two first met during their 8th grade middle school days growing up in Phoenix, Arizona.
“I remember seeing her walk on the bus, and I just knew”—he snaps his fingers—“I just knew, ‘I’ve gotta make this work. I don’t care how busy I am. This is the one I want to be with,’ recalled Bentley during a 2009 interview with Country Weekly.
Dierks popped the question on December 17, 2005 and the lovebirds got married later that same year in Las Vegas— where it all started at a George Strait concert.
Now, Dierks and Cassidy are happily married parents of three children— Evelyn Day (October 4, 2008), Jordan Catherine (December 25, 2010), and Knox (October 9, 2013). No children named ‘George’ or even ‘King George,’ but they do have a dog named George…

The story about George playing “I Just Want To Dance With You” especially for Dierk’s mother while performing in Phoenix is just so touching. So glad both of Dierks’ parents where able to experience that magic with their son in their own hometown.
Yes, Dierks Bentley certainly proves that George Strait has been bringing people together since 1981.
