Daryle Singletary's family and business associates are upset about the posthumous release of some of his last recordings. More on the legal drama here.

Country music singer-songwriter Daryle Singletary‘s new song, “She’s Been Cheatin’ on Us,” has been released posthumously online after his sudden death on Monday, February 12th.

“We wanted radio and the world to hear the last recordings of Daryle Singletary. We’re working on a fund to 100 percent benefit the family from these last recordings. I know from recent talks with Daryle personally about his recent struggles of raising young children with his wife Holly. Daryle was playing small clubs almost every weekend. ‘She’s Been Cheatin’ on Us’ was the last song recorded by Daryle Singletary and I, Greg Hudik, only wanted to raise money to help his family and I also wanted the world to hear Daryle’s last performance,” Platinum Records head Greg Hudik shared in a statement on Wednesday.

According to a statement provided to Taste of Country on Thursday by the late artist’s longtime business partner, Chuck Rhodes, the release of this song and other recordings were not approved by Singletary’s family or business associates. Rhodes claims that no fund benefiting the family currently exists and legal action has been taken.

“The recordings were ‘works for hire’ where Daryle was paid as a demo singer. I have worked with Daryle for 21 years to uphold the musical integrity of his recordings, his song choices and his record production along with Daryle’s co-producer Greg Cole. These songs were never meant to be released as master recordings and do not reflect the Gold standard that Daryle held himself to and anybody in our immediate team that worked with him,” Rhodes stated.

As of right now, a cease and desist letter has been sent to Greg Hudik demanding the tracks be taken down immediately.

Daryle Singletary leaves behind his wife, Holly; 7-year-old twin sons, Jonah and Mercer; daughters, Nora (5) and Charlotte (3); his parents, Roger and Anita Singletary; and brother Kevin Singletary.

We hope the legal issues gets cleared up quickly and that the Singletary family is allowed to carry out their wishes on their own terms. Be sure to share this update with other fans of the star and please keep his loved ones in your thoughts!
