Dan + Shay achieved one of the greatest honors in music during the 2019 Grammy Awards as they took home their first-ever Grammy for “Best Country Duo / Group Performance.” The pair then performed the winning song “Tequila” live, after which it shot up to No. 3 on the all-genre iTunes chart. The global smash has earned nearly 400,000,000 streams, making it the most-streamed country song released in 2018, and has surpassed 3,000,000 in track equivalent sales.

sorry for the delayed post and delayed responses to texts/calls/emails, but last night was the most memorable night of our music career, and we put our phones on airplane mode to enjoy every second of something we’ve dreamed of our entire lives. we won our very first grammy award, and to make it even sweeter, we got to perform on the show. thank you to everyone who believed in us, and gave us the opportunity to whole heartedly chase this crazy dream. you’re all responsible and deserving of this award just as much as we are. additional apologies for the next million posts, because we’re just so damn happy right now and don’t want to take any bit of this for granted. all the love, d+s. ❤️

“Thank you to the Recording Academy, everybody who voted for us, all the incredible artists in our category. That’s the beautiful thing about Nashville and country music – we are all family,” Dan Smyers shared upon accepting the award, adding, “Thank you to our co-writers Jordan Reynolds and Nicolle Galyon, [we] couldn’t do this without a great song.”
