It wasn't in country singer, Chris Young's plans to be in Las Vegas on October 1st but he was and his life is forever changed. Now he speaks out about moving forward.

Country music star Chris Young‘s presence at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on October 1st was a last minute— and life changing— decision.

“I was actually in San Francisco that morning and made a last-minute decision that I was gonna fly down,” Young shared with Taste of Country. “But I was the only person in my crew, band, etc. … that was there.”

A night that was supposed to be filled with fun and country music took a dark twist as a lone gunman fired into the crowd from the window of his hotel room, killing 58 people and injuring over 500. No one could have anticipated the horror that unfolded over the span of a few minutes and its impact on the nation.

Chris’ tweets directly after the chaos truly illustrate the range of intense emotions he was experiencing.

So where does a person go from here? What occurred in Las Vegas that night was enough to traumatize anyone and make the world seem like a cruel and harsh place. For Chris, he wasn’t sure what his next move would be, but decided that music has the power to heal and that is what he would do— try to heal his fans in this time of sorrow and confusion.

Chris made a heartfelt video post via Instagram for his fans and explained that he would keep performing.

Vegas was the scariest night of my life, but hopefully music can help heal…
