Country music star Chris Young initially started an Instagram account for his German Shepard puppy, Porter, as a joke— but it totally took off and now has just over 48,000 followers. So, yeah— this pup has carved out his own little slice of stardom.
With that face and those ears, it’s easy to see why!
Right now, the canine is just shy of 5-months-old and spends his time at Chris’ Nashville home, training class, and Chris’ sister’s house when the star is out of town on tour. Once Porter gets older and his training is complete, he will travel with his famous ‘dad’ full-time.
“He definitely knows who feeds him, first of all,” Young joked with PEOPLE during a new interview, “but he definitely knows that I’m his person … He’s very attached, so I can be in a room full of people and most of the time he’ll be sitting with me.”
“I may try to take him [on the road] this summer,” the star added, “if it’s short trips to just get him adjusted to the road. Really and truly, until dogs are about a year old, you’re just having to check them to make sure they understand boundaries and understand what’s going on.”
