Ahead of the release of his From A Room: Volume 2 album on December 1st, country music star Chris Stapleton has given fans another taste of his new music with the bluesy track “Tryin’ to Untangle My Mind.”
The tune was co-written by Stapleton alongside Jaron Boyer and Kendell Marvel. “Tryin’ to Untangle My Mind” touches upon the many ways individuals often go about finding a release— whiskey, women, and blowing through money. As the the song progresses, listeners learn that giving into these vices doesn’t lead to the intended outcome.

“Tryin’ to Untangle My Mind” Lyrics
Well I drank a lot of whiskey in my time
And I’ve held a lot of women that were fine
And I made a little money
I blew every dime trying to untangle my mind
Well I’ve made a lot of choices that were wrong
Had the good lord spend too many nights alone
And I’ve been out on the edge, and I’ve stumbled across the line
Tryin’ to untangle my mind
So if you see me, and I’m lonesome and stoned
So far down, the devil left me high
I’m just trying to untangle my mind
Well, I do what I do and I don’t know why
But I do what I do, til the day I die
No heartache for the ticket
So I guess I’ll pay the fine
Tryin’ to untangle my mind
If you see me, and I’m lonesome and stoned
So far down, the devil left me high
I’m just trying to untangle my mind
Guess I’m trying to untangle my mind
Stapleton just wrapped up his successful All-American Road Show Tour with final shows in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Omaha, Nebraska. Special guests for the run were Marty Stuart and country newcomer Brent Cobb.
