A look inside Chris Stapleton's brilliant mind...

Chris Stapleton’s gripping music video for “Fire Away” off of his groundbreaking 2015 Traveller albums depicts the real life struggle so many individuals and their loved ones face. The poignant video follows the story of a struggling relationship peppered with conflict and drinking, which eventually dissolves into a pair of suicide attempts. The video’s goal was to bring attention to overall mental health and promote dialogue on the difficult subject. Watch Stapleton discuss the making of the video below.

We applaud Stapleton and his collaborators on the video for pushing the envelope and opening up discussion on mental health. Check out the song’s full lyrics.

Fire Away Lyrics

Honey load up your questions
And pick up your sticks and your stones
And pretend I’m a shelter for heartaches
That don’t have a home
Choose the words that cut like a razor
And all that I’ll say

Is fire away
Take your best shot
Show me what you got
Honey, I’m not afraid
Rear back and take aim
And fire away

Well, I wish I could say
That I’ve never been here before
But you know and I know
That I’ll always come back for more
Your love might be my damnation
But I’ll cry to my grave

Fire away
Take your best shot
Show me what you got
Honey, I’m not afraid
Rear back and take aim
And fire away
