The current single “Don’t Waste The Night” is a flirtatious song about longing. The vibrant tune was co-written by songwriting heavyweights Josh Thompson and Matt Dragstrem, and is a follow up to his 2016 self-titled EP.
“I remember as I was heading to the writing session for ‘Don’t Waste The Night,’ I was scrolling through radio stations and heard an Ed Sheeran song that had this really mesmerizing beat and melody,” Hummon told Rolling Stone Country. “I wanted the song to have that same effect, where it can make you dance, but you can also get lost in the melody.”
The singer/songwriter made the 2016 Rolling Stone Country’s ’10 New Country Artists You Need to Know’ list. The magazine called him “a country Ed Sheeran” for his pop influences and the honest nature of his songs.
The Hummon name already carries clout in Nashville thanks to Marcus Hummon, Levi’s dad. Marcus has written regularly for Tim McGraw and has even scored three number ones songs with the Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, and Rascal Flatts.
This definitely isn’t the last you’ll be hearing of Hummon. Check out his enticing single here.
