There are critics everywhere and social media gives individuals the platform to share their opinions worldwide. While country music superstar Carrie Underwood is no stranger to receiving positive and negative feedback, she didn’t let one particular exchange regarding her latest Sunday Night Football anthem, “Game On,” go unchallenged.
On Dec. 9th, the SNF on NBC Twitter account shared a video montage of Chris Collinsworth’s “slide from the right.” On Sunday (Dec. 16), he revealed that he’s aware of the running joke and the memes that have spawned from his signature move.

Sports Illustrated‘s Jessica Smetana jumped in on this social media moment and poked fun at the Oklahoman’s musical contribution to Sunday Night Football, “I love that NBC has been reading everyone’s Collinsworth slide tweets because it means they’ve also been reading all the tweets about how much we hate the new Carrie Underwood song,” she quipped.
Carrie wasn’t going to just let that remark slide and responded with “Hey, I know my music isn’t for everyone, but I love what I do and I love being a part of @SNFonNBC! I am one lucky lady! I also love women who build other women up…just saying…”

Smetana later responded to the star’s feisty Tweet, backpedaling, “Omg wait no I love you I just miss the old song!!”
Nice try? You got called out.
Underwood co-wrote “Game On,” which replaced “Oh, Sunday Night,” with Chris DeStefano and Brett James. The new song premiered on September 9th.
