Last night’s nail-biting Super Bowl match-up kicked off with the debut of Carrie Underwood‘s new video for “The Champion,” which she co-wrote with Brett James, Chris DeStefano, and Ludacris.
Underwood shared in a statement that “our main focus was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives.”

All signs point to this video being shot before Carrie broke her wrist and received stitches to her face after taking a fall in November. We look forward to seeing her again when she’s ready to get in front of the camera!
