File this one under “cool”— country music superstar Carrie Underwood has stepped up to help Checotah, Oklahoma Police Officer Justin Durrett after he was injured in a car crash. The star (under her married name, Carrie Fisher) donated a generous $10,000 to the GoFundMe account set up for his benefit.
According to Oklahoma City’s KOCO News 5, Carrie and Justin attended the same Checotah church and were childhood friends.
Officer Durrett will have a long road to recovery, he was ejected from his truck in a rollover accident on his way to work. He suffered a broken neck, bruised spine, and received multiple staples to his head. The 35-year-old is a 13-year veteran of the Checotah Police Department and the father of two children.
As of noon on Tuesday, the fund has raised $13,000 with a goal to hit $20,000. Best wishes to Officer Durrett as he heals!
As for Carrie, she’s still recovering from breaking her wrist and injuring her face in a fall back in November. The star is laying low and has been back in the recording studio working on new music. Enjoy her latest tune “The Champion” below!
