Country music standout Carrie Underwood and NHL star husband Mike Fisher have something major to celebrate today— SEVEN years of wedded bliss!
The handsome pair first met backstage after one of the Oklahoma songbird’s concerts in 2008. The couple got engaged on December 20, 2009 and were married on July 10, 2010 at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge- Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia with over 250 guests witnessing the event.
On February 27, 2015 the happy couple welcomed their first child, Isaiah Michael Fisher, into the world.
Last year, the couple rang in their sixth wedding anniversary by jetting off to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. No word yet on how they are marking their latest relationship milestone. According to tradition, couples are to exchange gifts of wool and/or copper. Ehhh, we don’t see that happening.
As expected, being a celebrity adds all sorts of complexity and pressure to a marriage— that’s part of the reason so many famous pairings don’t last. So how do Carrie and Mike make it work while balancing two hot careers and simultaneously tackling the stresses of first time parenthood?
“Sometimes you have to make more of an effort to be with each other because it’s really easy to put all of your time and energy into your baby,” explained Underwood to People. “It’s been — not challenging, but just something that we’ve really just trying to be mindful of and try to make time for each other.”
Mike just wrapped up his 17th season in the NHL and Carrie is currently focusing on songwriting while she enjoys some quality time off the road. On November 8th, the songstress is set to host the 2017 CMA Awards alongside Brad Paisley for a 10th consecutive year.
