Life may be coming full circle for country music superstar Carrie Underwood! According to Variety, the songstress is currently reported to be “in talks” with the television show that gave the the singer her big break big, the one and only American Idol!
The show is gearing up for a reboot and is expected to air its 16th season in March of next year and is looking to bring back some of its famous alumni.
The original judges on the show when it first aired in 2002, were Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and the infamous Simon Cowell. While the only new judge to be announced is pop-singer Katy Perry, the rest of the rumored candidates may include Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, and Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino.
Carrie Underwood won American Idol in 2005 in its fourth season and since then her career has been explosive. Her first album released after the popular singing competition, Some Hearts, contained “Jesus, Take The Wheel” and “Before He Cheats,” which are two of Underwood’s most popular songs. She also quickly went on to win three Grammys, one of them being for “Best New Artist.”
Since her “Idol” days, Underwood has gotten married, had a baby, won a total seven Grammys, and has become one of the top female country music singers in the world. If she returns to American Idol next year we are sure it will be a surreal experience.
Speaking of surreal experiences, Underwood was recently one of the surprise guests at the New Kids on the Block’s Nashville show with co-headliners Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men. Underwood ran into her former Idol judge backstage!
Abdul and Underwood first met in 2005 when Underwood auditioned for American Idol in St. Louis by singing Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”
