“In Case You Didn’t Know” singer Brett Young released the third track, “Like I Loved You”, from his wildly successful debut album last month (July 2017) and now it comes with an emotional music video!
The video was filmed in sunny California, Young’s home-state, and directed by Phillip Lopez.
“California is home for me, and it’s where I’ve lived a lot of these lyrics, so it just feels right to shoot the ‘Like I Loved You’ video back there,” Young said. “I think just about everyone can identify with this song in some way. Most have us have had our hearts broken a time or two.”
The video opens on Young in an upscale house overlooking Los Angeles where he seems to be heartbroken over a girl that is in a photo framed on the table. The camera follows him as he goes through the motions of trying to move on with his life, something everyone can relate to after a break up.
Scenes of Young in a bar at last call are also all too familiar to someone that is now going out alone and this video seems to capture perfectly the feeling of having to move on before you really want to.
Lyrics of “Like I Loved You” perfectly match the sentiment the video is portraying:
Don’t tell me we can still be friends
Hanging on the weekend
You’re gonna be okay if I start seeing somebody new
You hope that I do
It won’t be long
Till I forget to call every time that I’m drinking
And you ain’t the love song
I can’t keep from singing
I gotta be honest
You really believe that’s the truth
You never loved me like I loved you
However, don’t feel too terrible for Young just yet. He took to Instagram recently to let us all know that the song and video are not autobiographical:
We wonder who the “lucky” girl is?

In addition to his own dates across the country, Young continues to perform with Lady Antebellum on their YOU LOOK GOOD WORLD TOUR throughout the summer.
