Country music standout Brantley Gilbert is busy preparing for the arrival of his first child, a boy, with wife Amber Cochran this November. Part of his process has been locking down some new interests before fatherhood hits full force.
“I’m trying to find some ‘Dad Hobbies,’ so I have been trying golf for the past four months,” he recently shared with Billboard.
While golf is good— we also suggest adding replacing toy batteries while being screamed at, watching Caillou until you become numb, being a human jungle gym, and sneaking out of a baby’s room like a ninja to his list of things to explore ahead of time.
Though Brantley’s exterior is rough and tumble, his heart is in the right place. “I really enjoy being a husband and an expectant father. It’s been great to not be in trouble for a minute. That’s pretty cool,” he humorously mused.
As he and Amber get ready to jump into parenthood, his mother, Becky, has become their top source for helpful child-rearing expertise.
“She always has great advice. I think we all think that about our mothers. She raised me and put up with me, so she definitely has had some helpful advice to raising this little fellow,” the Georgia native confessed.
When it comes to taking their son out on tour, the couple have reached out to fellow country star Eric Church and his wife Katherine to get their take on making his tour bus ideal for a growing family.
“We talked to Eric [Church] and his wife about kind of the set up on their bus and stuff cause down the road we want to make sure that what we’re building right now that we can convert it to take care of that cause I told [Amber], ‘They’re gonna be with me.’”
The star is currently on his his headlining The Devil Don’t Sleep Tour with country artists Luke Combs and Tyler Farr in tow.
