Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley have been working to make a free grocery store for those in need a reality in Nashville. More here!
Country music star Brad Paisley and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, have joined forces with Nashville’s Belmont University to open a free grocery store to serve those in need in the area. The project is called ‘The Store’ and will be located next to the university’s Ministry Center. The couple also serve on the The Store’s Board of Trustees.
“This is a grocery store with dignity for people who have fallen on hard times,” Paisley shared via The Tennessean. “All of us are one unforeseen disaster away from rock bottom. It’s nice to think about a place where when that happens to someone, they can use it to get back on their feet.”
According to the official website, “The Store will operate as a year-round free grocery store allowing people to shop for their basic needs. Clients are given the opportunity to come to The Store for a one-year period. There is no charge to those referred or to the people and agencies that send them. They may shop for food to supplement their income during times of crisis and as they work toward self-sufficiency.”
The Store aims to help at least 3,000 people a year.
“In doing their own shopping, our guests not only have a sense of dignity, but also a higher satisfaction with the food they are able to choose. We will offer donated food, as well as purchased, deeply discounted food from Second Harvest Food Bank and other sources. We are also thrilled to offer a private line of specialty body care products in collaboration with Thistle Farms in Nashville, TN,” the website explains.
“Brad’s and my passion project is launching! We are so excited about this,” Kimberly shared on Instagram.
