The Blake Shelton She’s Got a Way with Words song was released in June of 2016 (11 months after his split with Miranda Lambert). The emotional impact of the divorce definitely affected Blake’s choice of song selection and lyrics for the period after the split. The song peaked at #7 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2016.
Country superstar Blake Shelton’s “She’s Got a Way with Words” was the second single off of the artist’s chart-topping album If I’m Honest. When first publicly revealed, this specific set of lyrics set off fireworks:
She put the her in hurt
She put the why in try
She put the S.O.B. in sober
She put the hang in hangover
She put the ex in sex
She put the low in blow
She put a big F.U. in my future
Yeah she’s got a way
She’s got a way with words
We already knew that Shelton’s latest musical output would be more personal and intimate due to his high-profile divorce from Miranda Lambert last July and his current red-hot romance with fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani. Due to the nature of Blake’s last year, people have certainly been paying more attention to the content of his lyrical output.
There’s just a hint of sarcasm in this one,” he cheekily quipped to People Magazine. Despite the bitter lyrics, the tune’s music video proved to be rather tame. No Miranda Lambert lookalikes present. Here was Blake’s announcement for the music video to social media:

The nature of the song is certainly a strategic move— and having twice-divorced Shelton deliver the cutting lyrics really got fans talking. Really, it’s a genius move for all involved and will keep the spotlight fixed on the Shelton-Lambert divorce fallout. Blake and Miranda announced their split July 20, 2015 stating, “”This is not the future we envisioned,” reps for the couple say in a statement to the Associated Press. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

The track was written by Wyatt Earp, Andy Albert and Marc Beeson. Blake is not listed as a co-writer of the song. The tune takes a different spin on your standard breakup song and Shelton fully embraces its sour notes regarding love.
Blake Shelton She’s Got a Way with Words Lyrics
When you put two and two together
You figure out love’s got four letters
I shoulda known that when I met her
But she had to spell it out for me
After all that second guessing
It’s been a long hard history lesson
Hell that’s a class I got an F in
But now I understand perfectly
She put the her in hurt
She put the why in try
She put the S.O.B. in sober
She put the hang in hangover (hangover)
She put the ex in sex
She put the low in blow
She put a big F.U. in my future
Yeah she’s got a way
She’s got a way with words
Yeah she’s got a way with words
Little words like “I” and “do”
Lying, cheating, screwed
Yeah all the words I thought I knew
They got a brand new meaning now
She put the her in hurt
She put the why in try
She put the S.O.B. in sober
She put the hang in hangover (hangover)
She put the ex in sex
She put the low in blow
She put a big F.U. in my future
Yeah she’s got a way
She’s got a way with words
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
Yeah she’s got a way with words
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
She put the her in hurt
She put the why in try
She put the S.O.B. in sober
She put the hang in hangover (hangover)
She put the ex in sex
She put the low in blow
She put a big F.U. in my future
Yeah she’s got a way
She’s got a way with words
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
Yeah she’s got a way with words
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
She’s got a way with words
She’s got a way with words
Yeah she’s got a way with words
