Blake Shelton is one of the forces behind the Hallmark Christmas movie 'Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas.' More here!
Love country music star Blake Shelton as well as Hallmark movies? Well, make sure you catch Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas!
The new Hallmark Christmas film was inspired by the Oklahoman and his mother Dorothy Shackleford’s tune “Time for Me to Come Home.”
“Blake was writing the song for his Christmas album and said he needed help with the second verse,” Dorothy shared with Country Living. “So I came up with the second verse and that’s how the song was born.”
Both Blake and Dorothy’s vocals were also used for the song’s official recording.
“That thrilled me but at the same time it made me very nervous because I’m not a great singer,” Dorothy admitted, the pair also performed the tune for Blake’s 2012 Christmas special. “I just about passed out,” she said, “but somehow I got through it.”
After the song debuted, Dorothy co-wrote a novel by the same name alongside Travis Thrasher. The book’s contents were inspired by her family’s holiday memories.

“Time for Me to Come Home” Lyrics
There’s music in the city
And the lights are on display
There’s a big old tree for all to see
Where the children run and play
I look out through my window
Somethin’ just don’t seem right
TiIl I said hello and heard her voice
On the other end of the line
Now it’s Christmas, Christmas I’m hurrying’ on my way
Christmas, Christmas, like I’m riding in a one horse sleigh
Well, I don’t have to hear no jingle bells, just the ringing of the phone
Mama just called and said it’s time
For me to come home
The pies are in the oven
You can almost taste the air
And it warms my heart to feel her love
And know how much she cares
It’s funny how going back can get you back where you belong
It’s the difference between in just a melody and my favorite Christmas song
Now, it’s Christmas, Christmas I’m hurrying’ on my way
Christmas, Christmas, like I’m riding in a one horse sleigh
Well, I don’t have to hear no jingle bells, just the ringing of the phone
Mama just called and said, it’s time for you to come home
Mama just called and said, it’s time for you to come home
