Thompson Square Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About is the first track off of their second album, Just Feels Good. The song is about being in a relationship and thinking about certain things more than others. Things like everyday chores, cleaning the house or doing yard work, get pushed to the side to make way for thoughts about a significant other. This is normal for relationships, but it also distracts from tasks, which is why the couple “shouldn’t be thinking about” those things. But it makes for a catchy and relatable song!
Kiefer Thompson was the mastermind behind the lyrics of the song. He actually came up with the song’s main idea with some friends while Shawna was in the kitchen cooking. By the time she returned, the song was finished. The man’s point of view comes first, which was quite easy to write with a group of guys sitting together thinking about girls. Kiefer also wrote the woman’s part, guessing that women had similar thoughts sometimes. He was right.

The song became a hit and introduces Thompson Square’s second album, Just Feels Good, as the first track. A few months later, Thompson Square released the music video and dressed up as a couple from the 1960s.
