Miranda Lambert made one young double amputee’s dream come true recently thanks to a generous prosthetic company. Double amputee Kalyn Squires has Lambert’s face painted just below the knee of one of her prosthetics, and Lambert was happy to sign it.
According to WDAM-TV, 9-year-old Kalyn Squires had to have both of her legs amputated when she was only eight months old due to a congenital birth defect.
“Her positive attitude on life is how she overcomes all obstacles,” Squires’ mother, Christy, says.
“Anytime she sees someone with any type of physical difference, she walks up to them and introduces herself and tells them they are special just like her.”
Squires trip to Mississippi was paid for by Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics in Hattiesburg. In addition to meeting Lambert, she received several autographed gifts from the star.
Squires and her family have a Facebook page set up to document “Kalyn’s Journey as a Double Amputee.”
But Miranda’s signature wasn’t the only country touch to Kalyn’s prosthetic legs. Her mother tells WDAM-TV.
“When she had her newest legs made, she chose a picture of Miranda Lambert for her left leg and a picture of Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan for her right.”
Kalyn’s mother says her daughter is always thinking of others with physical differences, and even plans on becoming a prosthetic limb doctor, or a cosmetologist when she grows up.
This isn’t the first time Miranda Lambert has gone above and beyond for an adoring young fan.
In September, she broke down on stage while singing “Over You” when a 7-year-old fan with cancer reached out to touch her hand. Watch a video of the moment HERE.
