The 2017 Billboard Music Awards are slated to kick off on Sunday, May 21st at 8:00 p.m. ET via ABC and the nominees were revealed first thing this morning. Country superstar Luke Bryan is up for the coveted all-genre ‘Billboard Chart Achievement Award’ while Florida Georgia Line makes an appearance in the all-genre ‘Top Duo/ Group’ field. Country stars also made their presence known in the Christian music categories, Hillary Scott & the Scott Family are nominated for ‘Top Christian Album’ and ‘Top Christian Song’; popular country duo Joey + Rory also received a ‘Top Christian Album’ nomination.
According to Billboard, nominees were picked based on “key fan interactions with music” between March 18, 2016, and March 16, 2017. Those metrics include album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring, and engagement on social media.
