2016 American Music Awards (AMAs)

Here is your Country music guide to the 2016 American Music Awards that will air on ABC on Sunday, November 20th.

The 2016 American Music Awards features performances from today’s hottest artists and presents fan-voted awards in the categories of Pop/Rock, Alternative Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Adult Contemporary, Contemporary Inspirational, Latin, EDM, Soundtrack, Single of The Year, New Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year. The American Music Awards pays tribute to today’s most influential and iconic artists.

This year, there are no Country artists or groups performing live at the 2016 AMAs.   All of the live performances this year are from Pop, Rock and Soul/R&B genres.   The 2016 American Music Awards have announced the following performers for the ABC TV Event:  James Bay, The Chainsmokers and Halsey, Fifth Harmony, Green Day, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj, Niall Horan, John Legend, Marron 5 feat. Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes, Sting, Twenty One Pilots, and The Weekend.

There are five Country music related awards including:

  3. Favorite Country Duo or Group
  4. Favorite Country Album
  5. Favorite Country Song

Carrie Underwood is also nominated for “Artist of the Year” and will be competing against Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande for the 2016 Award.
