Chase Rice has made a name for himself as one of the most upbeat recording artists and songwriters in country music. Co-writing summer hits such as Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise,” and his own debut single, “Ready Set Roll,” the 30-year-old cutie seems to have it all together.
But in an Instagram picture posted by Chase, we see that he lost one of the most important people in his life when he was young.
“Updated my dad on some things. Was a good day,” Chase captioned the photo of him sitting next to his dad’s grave.
Chase lost his dad in 2008, when he was 22. In that time period, he certainly has accomplished a ton!
Not only is Chase a successful country artist, he played college football, was a finalist on the television show Survivor, and had a promising NASCAR career that he left to pursue music.
But none of these had as much of an impact on Chase’s life as the death of his dad. In an interview with ESPN, Chase said “It was devastating. Still is. It’s been six years, and there will still be moments where it hits me, where I remember the phone call from my mom. And I’m right back in that place. It’s the worst feeling, the worst nightmare you’ve ever had, the kind you wake up from and thank God it didn’t happen. But you don’t wake up from that one — it’s always true that it did happen.”
Chase Rice has really proven himself against all odds.
