The holiday season means lots of family traditions- some old and some new. More here on Thomas Rhett's favorite family holiday traditions!
It’s the start of the holiday season and you know what that means— delicious food, family celebrations, and travel! County music star Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins are all about making the most out of this time of the year, especially since becoming parents!
The couple and their two daughters, Willa and Ada, go all out! The “Life Changes” artist even describes the holidays in their household as “gigantic” with all the decorating and celebrating that is done! One of the family’s traditions is that they deck the halls two months ahead of time!
Willa, the couple’s eldest daughter, is catching on to the tradition now that she’s three! In a post by Lauren on Instagram, the two girls had a pair of matching Christmas pajamas on and in the caption, fans find out that it was all Willa’s idea!
The family also enjoys the little aspects of the holiday season such as walking around the neighborhood together and enjoying all of the lights and various Christmas displays!
Maybe that previous tradition sparked a new one— the Country Carolers! Last year the Akins family joined forces with Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler and Hayley Hubbard as well as Russell and Kailey Dickerson to sing Christmas carols at the doorstep of friends’ homes. The best part? The group was dressed up perfectly for the event!
Another new holiday tradition Thomas Rhett and Lauren have implemented is their annual Colorado ski trip. “It was kind of cool to start something brand-new for our family,” Thomas Rhett told Taste of Country. “I think we’re going to continue those little unique things that I didn’t really do growing up, but now I’m doing them with my own family.”
The best change to their holidays? Willa and Ada! The new parents have loved every step of being parents and getting to see the joy on their little girls’ faces on Christmas is no exception!
“It’s really cool to see it through the eyes of the kid that you used to be that you may have taken for granted as you got older,” the star explained. “But then when you have kids, you get to see that excitement all over again. It’s really special.”
