In the spirit of the summer season rising Texas-Country star Cody Sparks releases the song “4th of July” to radio with a lyric video.
Cody Sparks is back again and this time it is with a country love song that can make all of us appreciate the warm summer weather. Following his hit radio singles “No Time” and “Covered”, Sparks is back with a seasonal release that precedes his upcoming EP due out at the end of this month.
Sparks has gotten himself on countless stages opening for Texas greats like Jerry Jeff Walker, Cody Canada, Casey Donahew, Curtis Grimes, the Dirty River Boys and Shane Smith & The Saints. They’ve battled their way into the Top 20 and eventually advancing to the top 5 out of more than 1,200 contenders in the Red Dirt Battle of the Bands, staged at the Wormy Dog Saloon in Oklahoma City.
Sparks, the son of a church Pastor, is from the Texas Pan-handle but spent a lot of his early adulthood in Oklahoma and his music embodies the red dirt that comes from that region. Sparks continues to fight his way to the top of the country music mountain with work ethic and determination.
“A year and a half ago, we weren’t anywhere close to where we are now,” Sparks reflects. “A year and a half from now, I highly doubt we’ll be anywhere close to where we are at this moment. As long as we can keep progressing and getting better and continue to grow a following, we’ll keep moving forward.”
Sparks looks to Texas-trailblazers like Aaron Watson for inspiration in breaking into the national country music scene and with more and more walking that path it seems like a likely one to follow.
