Country music duo Sugarland's new "Mother" lyric video will have you running to grab some tissues. Enjoy the touching new visual here!
Fans are eager to enjoy Sugarland’s forthcoming album, Bigger, which is set to hit the shelves on June 8th. In the meantime, country music fans can appreciate the duo’s brand new song, “Mother.” There is nothing as powerful as a mother’s love for her children, and Sugarland hit the nail on the head with this song. The track follows “Still the Same” and “Babe,” an epic collaboration with Taylor Swift, as the country duo’s third single from Bigger.
As you might expect, “Mother” is a tribute to all the wonderful moms out there who have sacrificed everything to grant their children a better life. Of course the song will hit home with everyone who was blessed with a tremendous mother, but it struck band member Kristian Bush extra hard.
“My mom’s birthday was yesterday,” Bush revealed in a recent Instagram post.” She would have turned 73 as the sun came up. She lived to be 55. Never met her grandchildren or got to go see Sugarland. Those things all happened after she passed. Yesterday we released a song about mothers. This song is about a lot of things, our families, our lives, our country, but mostly, it is about my mom and what she was like. Now you see why it says what it says, especially in the lyric ‘As long as she’s alive you’re not alone’. I hope you love it.”
“We wanted to celebrate what we feel is so beautiful about mothers,” Jennifer Nettles explained about the song. “What we shared with our own mothers and what we see is beautiful about that relationship and that kind of unconditional open-ended love.”
Watch the touching lyric video below…
She’ll take you in, feed your friends
Her open arms are welcoming
She’ll rub your back all night when you’re crying
She’ll listen to you tell your story
Hold your fear and all your worries
Help you find the truth when they’re all lying
Even when it’s hopeless, she keeps trying
She’s your mother, you love her
There won’t be another place like her again that you call home
She stand here to help you, there’s nothing she won’t do
As long as she’s alive, you’re not along, you’ve got each other
That’s your mother
She fixes all the broken things
When you’re in love, she’s got a ring
To give to you, she hopes you’ll give away
She don’t care who you give it to
Where they’re from, if they pray like you
As long as they are good to you, that’s enough
First thing she taught you was love is love
She’s your mother, you love her
There won’t be another place like her again that you call home
She stands here to help you, there’s nothing she won’t do
As long as she’s alive, you’re not alone, you’ve got each other
That’s your mother
When you fail her, when you’re afraid
And crying in the careless mess you’ve made
She’ll make you clean it up yourself and offer you a little help
And dry your weary eyes when you let her
But she’ll look at you and know you can do better
She’s your mother, you love
There won’t be another place like her again that you call home
She stands here to help you, there’s nothing she won’t do
As long as she’s alive, you’re not alone, you’ve got each other
And the secrets in your heart she’s always known
She’s a beacon, a harbor
A lighthouse, her armor
A promise and a blanket when it’s cold
You’ll understand it more when you get older
You’ve got each other
That’s your mother
You’ve got each other
That’s your mother
