The Old Dominion One Man Band song was released in June 2019 as the second single from their self-titled third studio album. The song peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming their highest charting single in the pop music space. The song also achieved #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart on December 14, 2019. The Old Dominion band is comprised of members Mathew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung and Brad Tursi.
“One of the things we talk about the most in this band is how we can’t imagine being on this crazy ride alone,” Ramsey says in a press release about the song. “We have each other to celebrate the highs and get through the challenges with. It’s one of the best parts of being a band. Sure, you can make music alone. But if you find people you have a chemistry with a whole new world opens up.”
Old Dominion won the 2022 CMA Award for “Vocal Group of the Year” that was their fifth win in this category. The music video became the most popular of Old Dominion’s career with over 123 million views as of September of 2023. Been flying solo for so long
Nobody’s singing a harmony
Up there just me and my shadow
No base, no guitar, no tambourine
And I found you like a melody
You were singing in the same key as me
We had ’em dancing in the streets
I don’t wanna be a one man band
I don’t wanna be a rolling stone alone
Putting miles on a run-down van
Baby, we can take our own show on the road
I’ll lay down the beat, you’ll carry the tune
We’ll get tattoos, and we’ll trash hotel rooms
Baby, take my hand
I don’t wanna be a one man band
I wanna run down your wild dreams
And I wanna chase every high with you
Count every rip in these old jeans
We’ll never learn how to sing the blues
If I’m gonna be famous
Girl, I wanna be famous with you
We got our own little groove
I don’t wanna be a one man band
I don’t wanna be a rolling stone alone
Putting miles on a run-down van
Baby, we can take our own show on the road
I’ll lay down the beat, you’ll carry the tune
We’ll get tattoos, and we’ll trash hotel rooms
Baby, take my hand
‘Cause I don’t wanna be a one man band
When the spotlight goes cold, and the curtains come down
The chairs are all stacked, and there’s no one around
And nobody’s payin’, we’ll still be playin’
I don’t wanna be a one man band
I don’t wanna be a rolling stone alone
Putting miles on a run-down van
Baby, we can take our own show on the road
I’ll lay down the beat, you’ll carry the tune
We’ll get tattoos, and we’ll trash hotel rooms
Baby, take my hand
‘Cause I don’t wanna be a one man band
I don’t wanna be a one man band
